Fluids
How much final drive oil does it take?
180 ml at an oil change. The initial fill is 200 ml. BMW specifies Synthetik OSP gear oil.
How much coolant does the LC hold?
1.5 litres in the cooling circuit plus 0.25 litres in the expansion tank. The specified mix gives frost protection down to -25 C.
What brake fluid does it use?
DOT 4. Replace the brake pads when the lining reaches the 1.0 mm wear limit.
How much engine oil, and which type?
Up to 4 litres with a filter change, SAE 5W-40 to API SL / JASO MA2. The gap between MIN and MAX is up to 0.95 litre.
Fuel and weight
How big is the fuel tank?
About 30 litres usable, with about 4 litres of that as reserve. It runs on regular unleaded, 91 RON.
How heavy is the GS Adventure LC?
Kerb weight is 263 kg (DIN, with the tank 90 per cent full). The permissible gross weight is 480 kg, so check your load before a long trip with luggage and a passenger.
